Imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, TV, comic books and mundane mass-produced objects. One of its aims is to use images of popular (as opposed to elitist) culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any culture, most often through the use of irony. It is also associated with the artists' use of mechanical means of reproduction or rendering techniques. In pop art, material is sometimes visually removed from its known context, isolated, or combined with unrelated material. With that in mind, nothing serves this agenda better than collage. Pop art is also iconoclastic,  rejecting both the supremacy of the “high art” of the past and the pretensions of other contemporary avant-garde art. Although the critics of Pop art often describe it as vulgar, sensational, non-aesthetic, and a joke, its proponents (in the beginning a minority in the art world) saw it as an art that was democratic and nondiscriminatory, bringing together both connoisseurs and untrained viewers. These are some of the main reasons pop art still endures today.

Paper Options

Our master's edition, off-white, archival museum-quality paper, is uncoated and the superior choice for art enthusiasts who appreciate world-class quality to enjoy artworks most luxuriously.

Premium semi-glossy paper (Coated silk 200gsm / 80lb cover)
Archival matte paper (Uncoated 250gsm / 100lb cover)

Matte or uncoated
Matte paper is uncoated. It is generally more expensive than coated paper, less consistent in different countries, and is also not available as widely around the world. Matte paper should be avoided with heavy ink coverage, as it can look mottled. Heavy ink coverage is better suited to coated stocks with protection to stop rub and scratching (read more on protection below).

Semi-glossy or silk coated
Silk paper is a coated paper with a slight sheen. It should be used for documents with heavy ink coverage. You can apply both a matte or glossy protection to silk paper (more on this below). Silk paper should not be used for pages intended to write on.

  • We use FSC-certified paper and frame or equivalent certifications depending on regional availability. It’s better for the people and the planet.
  • With alkaline papermaking technology, this poster is acid-free, meaning the pH of the pulp that is used to form the paper is above 7 (neutral). The paper is also buffered with an alkaline reserve, such as calcium carbonate, to neutralize acid compounds absorbed from the atmosphere or formed through natural aging. This ensures that your poster will last many years without any yellowing or discoloration.
